SLI / CrossFire Test

Met maar één videokaart in je systeem voel je je als hardwareliefhebber eigenlijk een beetje kaal. ATI en nVidia doen er alles aan om je twee of zelfs drie exemplaren aan te smeren. Wij zochten opnieuw uit of het de investering nu eigenlijk wel waard is.

ATI Radeon HD 4870 Test

Vorige week introduceerde ATI officieel haar nieuwe generatie Radeon 4800 videokaarten. De Radeon HD 4850 en 4870 maken beide gebruik van de nieuwe RV770 chip. Zoals we in ons artikel van vorige week al beschreven bestaat de nieuwe strategie van ATI eruit om kaarten te maken met een zo goed mogelijke prijs/prestatie-verhouding, voor een grote doelgroep. Helaas hadden we vorige week puur de beschikking over een 4850 om benchmarks mee uit te voeren, maar ondanks het relatief lage prijskaartje van circa 160, wist deze kaart zeer prettige scores te bewerkstelligen. Zó prettig zelfs, dat velen smachtend uitkeken naar de scores van zijn grotere broer, de HD 4870. Deze kaart biedt immers hogere klokfrequenties en super snel, state-of-the-art GDDR5 geheugen.
