Beste all-round ssd: Kingston A2000

Nadat de Kingston A2000 begin dit jaar enige tijd slecht leverbaar was, heeft de ssd-fabrikant de aanvoer nu weer op orde. De prijzen zijn daardoor weer erg scherp: bij diverse winkels haal je de 1TB-versie voor minder dan 120 euro in huis.

De Kingston A2000 is een m.2-ssd met een nvme-interface, wat betekent dat je hem eenvoudigweg in je moederbord of laptop kan steken, zonder kabeltjes. Een nvme-ssd maakt gebruik van een speciaal voor ssd's ontworpen communicatieprotocol en werkt bovendien via pci-express. Daarmee zijn veel hogere snelheden te behalen dan met het sata-protocol, dat ooit voor harde schijven werd ontworpen.

Alternatieven

Een andere interessante all-round ssd is de WD Blue SN550. Gemiddeld is de Kingston echter wat sneller en op het moment ook goedkoper. Ook de Toshiba RC500 moeten we zeker noemen, die tegenwoordig tevens wordt gevoerd onder de nieuwe Kioxia-merknaaam.

Potentieel goedkopere alternatieven zijn er in de vorm van de Crucial P1 en Intel 660p, twee ssd's die hardwarematig zeer gelijkaardig zijn. Ze maken gebruik van qlc-geheugen en zijn daardoor niet geschikt voor zeer intensief gebruik, maar als ze duidelijk goedkoper zijn dan alternatieven met regulier tlc-geheugen, kunnen ze zeker het overwegen waard zijn. Ook voor secundaire opslag doen ze het prima.
