iPhone 8 krijgt gebogen plastic OLED-scherm?

De iPhone 7 en 7 Plus zijn nog niet zo heel lang op de markt en nu al is de geruchtenmolen omtrent de opvolger al op volle toeren actief. Het huidige scherm van de iPhones is sinds de komst van de iPhone 6 al heel licht gebogen aan de zijkanten, maar dit mag ten opzichte van sommige concurrerende toestellen geen naam hebben. Dit zou de bij de toekomstige generatie compleet op de schop kunnen gaan.

Volgens een bericht van de Korean Herald, werkt Apple aan drie iPhones. Hierbij zouden twee modellen vergelijkbaar zijn met wat men nu van Apple gewend is. Er zou één high-end model komen dat gebruik zou maken van een gebogen plastic OLED-scherm. Hierdoor zou het scherm nog dunner kunnen worden. Het scherm zou van Samsung afkomstig zijn. Samsung zou Apple 100 miljoen eenheden kunnen leveren.

Daarnaast zou de voorzijde vrijwel in zijn geheel gevuld worden door het scherm. De Touch ID-sensor zou daarbij ook in het scherm worden geïntegreerd. De twee lager gepositioneerde nieuwe iPhones zouden een LCD-paneel behouden.
