Gisteren kondigde Intel officieel de nieuwe achtste generatie laptopprocessors aan onder de noemers Amber Lake en Whiskey Lake. Toen we op de ARK-pagina van Intel keken, zagen we nog twee nieuwe chips staan. Intel heeft Kaby Lake-G-processors met een Radeon Pro WX Vega-gpu online gezet.
Vooralsnog lijkt het te gaan om twee chips, die vermoedelijk in technische zin exact gelijk zijn aan de reguliere modellen, alleen hebben ze de Radeon Pro WX workstation-drivers, die beter geoptimaliseerd zijn voor programma's als AutoCAD en SolidWorks. Het betreft de Core i5-8305G en de Core i7-8706G. Volgens de specificatielijst van Intel is het enige verschil dat vPro is ingeschakeld - de managementfunctie voor zakelijke systemen. Vermoedelijk zullen we deze chips dus ook in de zakelijke notebooks gaan terugzien.
Beide chips zijn quadcores met hyperthreading en een tdp van 65 watt. De twee hebben een Vega M GL-gpu met 20 compute units en 1280 stream processors op 931 tot 1011 MHz. De gpu is met een emib verbonden met de cpu en het hbm2-geheugen. Daarvan is in totaal 4 GB aanwezig.
