Ubiquiti Networks staat vooral bekend van zijn UniFi-lijn met centraal beheerde access points. Het bedrijf maakt echter ook eigen routers, switches en draadloze point-to-point bridges. Deze verschillende apparaten hadden tot nu toe enkel een eigen managementsysteem, maar Ubiquiti komt nu met een systeem om al deze apparaten centraal te kunnen beheren: het Ubiquiti Network Management System.
UNMS ondersteunt in eerste instantie de EdgeRouter- en EdgePoint-routers, de UFiber Optical Line Terminal en de airMAX-ptp bridges. Later komt er ondersteuning voor de EdgeSwitch-, AmpliFi- en airFiber-platformen en uiteindelijk moeten alle Ubiquiti-apparaten met UNMS aangestuurd kunnen worden.
Via het managementsysteem kan de netwerkcapaciteit in de gaten worden gehouden, kunnen apparaten beheerd en geüpdatet worden en kunnen netwerkstatistieken snel bekeken worden. Ook de installatie en configuratie kan via het nieuwe systeem centraal gebeuren.
UNMS is per direct beschikbaar hoewel de software nog in beta zit. De software werkt op een systeem met Ubuntu 16.04+ of Debian 8.4+, een 64-bits x64-processor, 2 gigabyte werkgeheugen en 16 GB opslag. Ook kan de controller bij een clouddienst gehost worden die aan dezelfde eisen voldoet.
