24 Intel Z490 moederborden review: van koorts tot kookpunt

Verschillen: opslag (M.2 & SATA)

Dat m.2 echt de nieuwe standaard voor ssd-opslag is geworden, zien we zeker terug als we naar de mogelijkheden voor storage kijken. Geen enkel bord heeft minder dan twee m.2-sloten, zelfs bij de itx-modellen. Alleen de plaatsing achterop is bij de itx-borden minder ideaal. Vanaf zo'n 400 euro behoort ook een derde m.2-slot tot de standaarduitrusting.

Opvallend is dat de Gigabyte Z490 Gaming X, Vision G, Aorus Elite en Aorus Pro, en de ASRock Z490 Steel Legend een extra m.2-slot hebben, dat niet is gedocumenteerd. Navraag leert ons dat dit slot voor 'future use' is. Lees: je kunt dit m.2-slot gebruiken om bij een toekomstige processor met meer lanes direct een m.2-ssd aan te sluiten op de cpu.

Op onder meer deze Gigabyte Z490 Aorus Elite zit een extra m.2-slot voor 'future use'.

Voornamelijk bij enkele budgetmodellen krijg je minder m.2-heatsinks dan er sloten zijn. Ook zes keer sata is standaard, met uitzondering van de itx-borden die er door plaatsgebrek steeds vier hebben. Een paar borden zijn uitgerust met een extra ASMedia-controller om twee extra sata-poorten te kunnen bieden.
