Prestaties processor - Cinebench

Hogere processorprestaties zijn van belang als je veel programma's tegelijk draait, zwaardere taken uitvoert zoals foto- en videobewerking. Voor doorsnee gebruik volstaat een Core i3 uitstekend, maar doe je meer met je notebook, dan is een Core i5 aan te raden: de Turbo Boost techniek geeft die flink wat meer rekenkracht wanneer je die nodig hebt. Een quad-core Core i7 is een interessante optie als je niet genoeg rekenkracht kan hebben. Bij Ultrabook / ultra low voltage processors is het verschil tussen Core i5 en Core i7 een stuk kleiner, overigens.

Een goede indicatie voor processorprestaties zijn de Cinebench tests. Deze benutten alle beschikbare rekenkracht. We draaien nog versie 10, maar versie 11.5 is de courante versie die de beste indruk geeft van prestaties bij zware belasting.

Duidelijk is dat de Acer Aspire V3 met zijn quad-core Core i7 een enorme voorsprong heeft in deze benchmark, die van alle cores gebruik kan maken. De BTO U.Book is een goede tweede, terwijl de prestaties van de rest van het testveld elkaar niet veel ontlopen. De Dell XPS 12 met zijn ULV i7 en de Toshiba U920T met zijn Core i3 zijn de hekkensluiters. Als je bedenkt dat de laatste Turbo Boost moet missen, is het verschil niet eens zo groot tussen die twee.
